Who we are

This Privacy Policy is designed to help you understand how Business Bullpen LLC DBA Storyware (“Storyware”; “we”) collect and use the information you decide to share, and help you make informed decisions when providing personally identifying information as a visitor or registered user at our website accessible at cvilleshops.com and other Storyware-branded websites and domains that point to this Privacy Policy (collectively, “Site”), while using our various services, or while accessing or using other Site features such as through email subscriptions to receive news and updates.

By accessing the Site, using our services or Site features, or by providing us with your personally identifying information, you are accepting the practices and policies described in this Privacy Policy. Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time, and any changes will be posted on this page, and if the changes are significant, we will provide a more prominent notice.

Our Privacy Policy does not apply to services offered by other companies or individuals, including third-party services used by Storyware, or third-party websites accessed through the Site. For these third-party websites and services, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the applicable third-party privacy policies. If Storyware makes use of the services of third parties that process your personal data, Storyware shall use only processors providing sufficient guarantees to ensure the protection of your rights.

Which personal data do we gather?

Storyware collects personal data at the Site in two ways: (1) directly (for example, when you provide personal data to sign up for a newsletter or register to comment on a forum website); and (2) indirectly (for example, through the Site’s technology).

We may collect and process the following personal data:

  • Personal data that you provide by filling in forms on the Site. This includes registering to use the website, subscribing to services, newsletters and alerts, registering for a conference or requesting a white paper or further information. Pages that collect this type of personal data may provide further information as to why your personal data are needed and how it will be used. It is completely up to you whether you want to provide it.
  • If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
  • We may ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them.
  • Any postings, comments or other content that you upload or post to a Storyware website.
    • If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
    • For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
  • The Site collects personal data about your computer, including (where available) your IP address, operating system and browser type, for system administration, to filter traffic, to look up user domains and to report on statistics.
  • Details of your visits to the Site, the pages you view and resources you access or download, including but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data.

How do we use personal data that we collect from the Site?

We respect your privacy, and value the information you share with us. Storyware will not use, process, sell, rent, or share with a third party any personally identifiable information other than as permitted by (i) the Privacy Policy (including for example by using such data in the aggregate), (ii) the relevant laws or regulations, or (iii) specifically requested or authorized by you when accessing or using our software and related services, for example to render or complete the services requested or authorized by you.

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We may share your personally identifiable information with data processors, vendors, or contractors in order to provide you with a requested service or transaction, such as to provide email newsletters. For example, to provide you with email newsletters we must share your personally identifiable information with our email newsletter service provider. We also use information collected from cookies and other identifiers to improve your user experience and the quality of our services.

We may collect and share personally identifiable information when we have a good faith belief that access, use, or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to satisfy any applicable law, rule, regulation, or enforceable governmental or administrative request, enforce our applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations, detect, prevent, or address fraud, security or technical issues, or protect against harm to the rights, property or safety of Storyware, our users, or the public.

Our use of information other than for the purpose of completing a requested transaction or service is on an opt-in basis. This means that you will not receive communications from us unless you have given us affirmative permission to receive such communications. Our email communications all include links enabling you to opt out of further email solicitations, or you may contact us with your comments and inquiries at help@storyware.co.

Is My Information Shared With Other Companies?

We share personally identifiable information with third parties only to the extent necessary to render services you have requested or authorized, for example to trusted business partners who process information on our behalf.

We may also provide you with access to third-party applications, such as gadgets or extensions, through the Site. Any information collected when you enable a third-party application on the Site is processed under our Privacy Policy, but any information collected by a third-party application provider is governed by their privacy policies.

We may also share your personally identifiable information with third parties if we have a good faith belief that access to or use of this information, or the preservation or disclosure of this information, is reasonably necessary to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request; to enforce our Terms of Service, including for investigation of possible violations; detect, prevent, or otherwise remedy fraud, security threats or breaches, or other technical issues; and to prevent harm to the personal or property rights of Storyware, or other third parties, as permitted by applicable laws.

Storyware is neither responsible nor liable for the processing of your personal data by third parties. To the extent that a third party processes your personal data as a data processor of Storyware, Storyware will conclude a processor agreement with such party that meets the requirements set out in the relevant laws and regulations. We will require that third-party processors agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with our Privacy Policy, the relevant laws and regulations, and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.

How Do I Access Or Change My Personal Information?

To provide our services, we need to store your personal information when accessing or using our services. You can update the personal information for your account by contacting us.

When updating your personal information, we may ask you to verify your identity before we act on your request and, at our discretion, we may reject requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort or are impractical, or risk the privacy rights of other users. We may not immediately delete copies of your outdated information from our servers and may not remove all outdated information from our backup systems after you delete this information. This residual retention period is necessitated to protect our information servers from accidental or malicious loss of data.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Retention Period

Storyware will not store your data any longer than is necessary to achieve the purposes stated in this Privacy Policy or to comply with the relevant laws and regulations.

What are cookies?

Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your computer or mobile device when you visit a site and allow a site to recognize your device. Storyware uses cookies on the Site.

How do we use cookies (and other tracking technologies)?

In some instances, we may collect aggregate data through cookies, pixel tags, web beacons, and other anonymous identifiers. We may associate this usage data with personally identifying information. The majority of web browsers accept cookies and similar files, but you can usually change the browser settings to prevent this. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Articles on the Site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Do we send targeted e-mails?

We send commercial e-mail to individuals at our clients or other companies with whom we want to develop or maintain a business relationship in accordance with applicable marketing laws. Do we maintain Customer Relationship Management (CRM) databases?

Like most companies, Storyware uses customer relationship management (CRM) database technology to manage and track our marketing efforts. Our CRM databases include personal data belonging to individuals at our clients and other companies with whom we already have a business relationship or want to develop one. The personal data used for these purposes includes relevant business information, such as: contact data, publicly available information (e.g. board membership, published articles, press releases, your public posts on social media sites if relevant for business purpose), your responses to targeted e-mail (including web activity following links from our e-mails), website activity of registered users of our website, and other business information included by Storyware professionals based on their personal interactions with you. Do we combine and analyze personal data?

We may combine data from publicly available sources, and from our different e-mail, website, and personal interactions with you (this includes information collected across our different websites such as our careers and corporate sites and information collected when you sign-up or log on to our sites or connect to our sites using your social media credentials). We combine this data to better assess your experience with Storyware and to perform the other activities described throughout our privacy policy.

What are your rights regarding marketing communications?

You can exercise your right to prevent marketing communications to you by checking certain boxes on the forms we use to collect your personal data, or by utilizing opt-out mechanisms in e-mails we send to you. You can also exercise the right to discontinue marketing communications to you, or to have your personal data removed from our customer relationship management (CRM) databases at any time by contacting us. In such cases, we will retain minimum personal data to note that you opted out in order to avoid contacting you again.

Specific Information For Personal Data Collected From Persons In The European Union

Storyware’s services are presumed to be hosted on servers located within the United States. You consent to this storage and processing of your personal information in the United States by accessing or using our services.

Processing personal data of persons in the European Union will always be carried out in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, EU Regulation 2016/679). This means that you have several rights as a person in the European Union with regard to the processing of your personal data. The following overview summarizes these rights in general terms.

Access: You have the right to request information about your own personal data that is collected and processed by Storyware.

Rectification: If your own personal data is inaccurate of incomplete, you have the right to request a rectification.

Objection and Erasure: You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data and to request for an erasure of your personal data processed by Storyware.

Restriction of processing: You have the right to request a restriction of the processing of your personal data in the situations regulated by article 18 of the GDPR. For example, if the processing is unlawful but you oppose erasure for legitimate reasons.

Data portability: When the processing is carried out by automated means and is based on your consent or based on an agreement, the personal data which you have provided shall be presented to you in a structured, commonly-used and machine-readable format and you have the right to transmit the collected data to another controller.

Withdrawal of consent: When you have given consent for the processing of your personal data, you can at any time withdraw your consent.

All requests can be submitted via help@storyware.co and will be taken care of within reasonable time. Your request will be followed up, except when Storyware has a legitimate reason not to do so (for example, when the processing is legitimate and/or Storyware has a legitimate interest in processing the data, like when the personal data is needed to comply with obligations by contract or law or for a legal action).

You may bring any complaint with respect to our collection or use of your personal information under this Privacy Policy directly to our attention, in which case we will endeavor to respond to your complaint within one month of receipt. This period may be extended by two further months if necessary. If your complaint is not resolved to your satisfaction through our internal dispute resolution efforts, you may seek independent recourse to investigate and resolve your complaint. You may submit such complaints to your national data protection authority, or to binding arbitration provided through a neutral dispute resolution provider. Storyware may refer unresolved privacy complaints to the independent BBB Privacy Shield Program as administered by the Council of Better Business Bureaus.

Storyware’s Information Security & Compliance Practices

We store your personal data on a secure cloud server that is shielded from outside access by a firewall. We practice safety procedures intended to ensure, as far as possible, the security and integrity of all our information, including your personally identifying information. However, no system or information can ever be fully protected against every possible hazard. As a result, we cannot assure or warrant the security or privacy of any information you provide to us and, accordingly, you do so at your own risk.

COPPA Disclaimer

The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) was created to protect children under the age of thirteen from unsuspecting practices related to collecting, using, or disclosing any information about them. Our services are neither intended nor directed for use by children under the age of thirteen. Storyware does not knowingly accept, collect, maintain or use any information from any child under the age of thirteen, and if a child whom Storyware knows or suspects to be under the age of thirteen sends personal information to us online, we will only use that information to respond directly to that child, notify the parents, or seek parental consent.

Password Protected plugin

The Password Protected plugin stores a cookie on successful password login containing a hashed version of the entered password. It does not store any information about the user. The cookie stored is named bid_n_password_protected_auth where n is the blog ID in a multisite network.

We collect information about you during the checkout process on our store.

What we collect and store

While you visit our site, we’ll track:

  • Products you’ve viewed: we’ll use this to, for example, show you products you’ve recently viewed
  • Location, IP address and browser type: we’ll use this for purposes like estimating taxes and shipping
  • Shipping address: we’ll ask you to enter this so we can, for instance, estimate shipping before you place an order, and send you the order!

We’ll also use cookies to keep track of cart contents while you’re browsing our site.

When you purchase from us, we’ll ask you to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment details and optional account information like username and password. We’ll use this information for purposes, such as, to:

Who on our team has access

Members of our team have access to the information you provide us. For example, both Administrators and Shop Managers can access:

  • Order information like what was purchased, when it was purchased and where it should be sent, and
  • Customer information like your name, email address, and billing and shipping information.

Our team members have access to this information to help fulfill orders, process refunds and support you.

WP Smush

Plugin: Smush

Note: Smush does not interact with end users on your website. The only input option Smush has is to a newsletter subscription for site admins only. If you would like to notify your users of this in your privacy policy, you can use the information below.

Smush sends images to the WPMU DEV servers to optimize them for web use. This includes the transfer of EXIF data. The EXIF data will either be stripped or returned as it is. It is not stored on the WPMU DEV servers.

Smush uses the Stackpath Content Delivery Network (CDN). Stackpath may store web log information of site visitors, including IPs, UA, referrer, Location and ISP info of site visitors for 7 days. Files and images served by the CDN may be stored and served from countries other than your own. Stackpath’s privacy policy can be found here.

Smush uses a third-party email service (Drip) to send informational emails to the site administrator. The administrator’s email address is sent to Drip and a cookie is set by the service. Only administrator information is collected by Drip.

Mailchimp for Woocommerce

When shopping, we keep a record of your email and the cart contents for up to 30 days on our server. This record is kept to repopulate the contents of your cart if you switch devices or needed to come back another day. Read our privacy policy here.
